As a health professional I have learned the importance of focusing on a problem as quickly as possible. After all in the health care world we are dealing with human life, there is no time to waste. Therefore, my theory is to get right to the core of things and treat the real problem, not just the symptoms. Preventive medicine is an example of my theory, stopping the development of diseases before they start. Education is our strongest defense in preventive medicine, keeping people informed with the statistics of data, assisting them in the making the right health decisions, etc. I have a goal to become part of a major team, assisting in more developments of preventive medicine, and the Suite101.com community will be a major avenue for me to do so.
In the past I've been a contributing editor for Suite101.com: 1999-2001 I wrote articles on Women & HIV, 2002-2004 I wrote articles on Maternal-Fetal Relationships, and in 2007 I wrote articles on"Biology vs. Culture" discussing why we do some of the things we do (even though they may be detrimental to our health) and what we can do to overcome the strong influence our genes have on our mental and physical well-being. Now I am returning to submit articles on topics in "General Medicine", to discuss various diseases, preventive measures and treatment options to maintain optimal health.
I am looking forward to contributing to the Suite 101.com community!
Best,
Geneva
